When I see something about Marie Antoinette, I think of Versailles. Marie Antoinette was one of the most influential women during her time and her life story continues to attract lots of attention. If you’re heading for Paris, I’m pretty sure, you’re thinking of spending a day at the palace of Versailles.
Prepare yourself by getting hold of information through films, books, objects regarding Versailles and Marie Antoinette. If you’re lazy to read (tsk tsk), I suggest you start off with Sofia Copola’s interpretation of the life of Marie Antoinette. This should get your appetite for history going.
I’ve included a photo of very pretty, very pink note cards from mulberrymuse called High Tea with Marie Antoinette. Ahh, to have high tea with her! I’d ask her a million questions! If you’re the active type, there’s a cycling tour to Versailles. Not only do you get a tour of this magnificent palace, you also see the gardens and Marie Antoinette’s Hameau, Petit Trianon and Grand Trianon. Plus you get to enjoy a picnic right on the very spot where Louis XIV ate and admired his wonderful palace.
