Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam adds a lot of fun and laughs to your stay in Europe. After visiting all those must-see paintings and other historical treasures at the Rijksmuseum, Ann Frank House, Van Gogh and Stedelijk museums, head for Dam Square. You won’t miss Madame Tussauds museum. It’s the one with the long queue.

I spent one winter afternoon rubbing elbows — wax elbows, that is — with the rich and famous at Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam. The price is reasonable, if you love hamming it up in front of the camera. So, bring out the celebrity in you and pose! the camera loves you, baby!

What are my tips for a fun day at Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam?

Book your Madame Tussauds admission in advance! There is almost always a long line greeting you as you arrive at Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam. There is a way to avoid this – book in advance! You might be able to do this at your hotel’s concierge or better yet, book online. if you do it online, you can just print out your tickets. When you get to the museum, you continue straight to the entrance – saving time!

Madame Tussauds Tip #2 Bring your camera

Well, when you’re excited, you tend to forget stuff. And make sure your camera works! Please check this before you leave your hotel. Who is going believe you when you say you’ve snuggled up with Robbie Williams or touched Brad Pitt’s chest?

Madame Tussauds Tip #3 Take that jacket off, and hide the bags!

If you’re wearing a winter jacket, take it off during your “photo ops”. I’m talking from experience because we were there on a cold winter day. I should have taken my jacket off when I shared a shot with Tony Blair. Argh, I didn’t! And in some pictures, I had my shopping bags! Well, that gives me another reason to visit again!

Madame Tussauds Tip #4 Remember, you’re a celebrity today

So, act like one! Blend in with the wax figures. Don’t just stand there, do something! You’re a celeb – you don’t want to be mistaken for a wax figure! And don’t be shy, just ham it up! These will make great souvenirs of your trip. I’ve always wanted to have my picture taken with Benny Hill… Don’t forget to salute!
