When I asked my husband about the must-sees in Rotterdam, he just shrugged his shoulders and said – the Erasmus Bridge. I stayed the night at the Golden Tulip in Rotterdam and had a great view of the Erasmus Bridge. Was that it?
I didn’t even bother to check online about the other attractions since I spent the afternoon at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and met up with my husband in Rotterdam.Walking distance to the hotel is Rotterdam’s Walk of Fame. I didn’t even notice it the night before because of the crowd. And this morning, I stepped on Tina Turner (well, her slab). I had the street to myself so I got busy clicking away and humming tunes… what’s love got to do with it…
It was quiet, too! I could hear the seemingly loud clicking of my iPhone. Ah, handy thing, these iPhones.
I used to listen to Al Jarreau while studying way back in college 25 years ago… already?! these were fond memories and seeing his hands on Rotterdam’s Walk of Fame made me hum my favorite Al Jarreau song.
Saturday nights must be very busy in Rotterdam! I watched men in compact cleaners go around the streets cleaning up the mess from the night before. Everything went like clockwork! Walls were sprayed with water, trash was eaten up by tiny vehicles and streets were swept till all traces of partying was off the streets. How organized!
On the left are the handprints of Freddy Fender. I’m not a fan of Freddy Fender but since my husband loves his music, I decided to take the picture. This is shocking – I was humming to the tune of “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights”! Funny how we remember songs, even those we’re not fond of! Well, he’s starting to grow on me since I see how much my husband enjoys all of Freddy’s songs.
I also spotted Gino Vanelli’s feet
and it got me humming to my fave Gino Vanelli song – I Just Wanna Stop – a song I haven’t heard in such a loooong time! It got me checking Youtube for the entire song and I found this:
Continuing on, came foot to foot with Gloria Estefan. I’m as tall as she is, so I just had to check out the size of her feet hahaha. An early morning jogger was wondering what I was up to.
If you’re staying in Amsterdam, Rotterdam is less than an hour away by train. Check out the Erasmus Bridge, the Maritime Museum and before sitting down for a relaxing snack, check out Rotterdam’s Walk of Fame!
